Full Time Nanny and Family Assistant for One Child with Special Needs in Manhattan Beach!

Updated: 3 days ago

A fun loving and welcoming family in Manhattan Beach is looking for an incredible new full-time nanny and family assistant for their 12-year-old girl with special needs! The start date is as soon as the right person is found. They are looking for a long-term relationship and have only had one nanny for their daughter’s entire life. Mom and dad both work full time (from home), and mom also runs a nonprofit, so she really needs support!

Job details are below!

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Manhattan Beach

Child: One 12-year-old girl with a rare syndrome known as DDX3X that is comparable to Angelman’s syndrome. She is nonverbal (3 years old developmentally, she needs bathroom help; she does not need to be carried and can walk unassisted with supervision/support as she does have balance issues, eats with a spoon, drinks with a sippy cup.) She is a happy child, not super rigid, and even though she cannot speak she has ways of communicating (which would be taught during a training period.) She understands what is going on and needs to be spoken to like a person (not like a baby, this is very important.) She is smart enough to be manipulative so she needs someone capable of being sweet but firm with her (she understands tone.)

Pets: None

Guaranteed Hours: M-F 11am-7pm

Longevity: Long term

Pay:  $35 per hour NET (must be comfortable being paid through a third party as a W2 employee and the family will provide supplementation)

Benefits: Standard PTO and potentially a negotiable healthcare stipend

Requirements:

·      8-10+ years’ professional childcare experience starting at the age of 18

·      2 full years of special needs experience (maybe less for the right person)

·      Legal authorization to work in the US

·      Covid vaccine (initial round)

·      Current CPR/FA certification (in-person only)

·      Willing and able to dispense medication (basic)

·      Clean criminal background and able to pass livescan/PI background check

·      Capable swimmer

·      Clean driving record, safe, reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursement for on-the-job driving will be provided)

·      Fluent English speaker

Personality/Vibe: The child responds to bubbly, outgoing, warm, fun, energetic, engaging. Mom needs someone very proactive (if running low on smoothies, allergy meds let mom know) and very communicative with both parents and therapists; organized and receptive to feedback. The family describes themselves as loud, warm, welcoming, gracious, appreciative, go with the flow and fun. They are looking for someone with a similar, playful personality who will talk to their daughter and narrate their time together!

Duties:

• Before school pick up, family assistant duties (letting family know when running low on things, running errands, grocery shopping, rotating the child’s clothes, goodwill trips, keeping track of the child’s therapy appointments and schedule, coordinating with the therapists on that; taking things off mom’s plate!)

• After school pick up at 2pm, child related duties (Picking the child up from school and taking her to therapy appointments, making her dinner and doing dinner/bath routine, handling laundry and child related tidying, unpacking her backpack/lunchbox and making lunch for the next day.)

Travel: Someone willing to travel would be very helpful (a couple of times a year, valid passport needed)

If this sounds like a dream job for you, please send your professional childcare resume in word or pdf format to naysnannies@gmail.com with the subject “MB FA!” Thank you!
