Invite your Nanny to your Child's Birthday Party...Yay or Nay?

Each Family/Nanny relationship is unique. Some relationships are a bit more formal/professional, while others prove to be more tight knit and personal. Nannies are employees of the Family, but also work in the Family home and develop strong bonds with the children (and oftentimes, the parents!)

Families may worry that by inviting their nanny to their child's birthday party, their nanny may feel obligated to attend on their day off. But we believe that as with everything, communication is key.

We feel it best to leave the ball in your nanny's court. Invite them (as a guest) and let them know that whether or not to attend will be completely up to them. Not being invited can leave your nanny feeling hurt and discarded. Many nannies (especially those placed by Nay's Nannies!) genuinely love their charges and would be absolutely honored to be present for these milestone moments!
